Interfaces and video calling

Interfaces and video calling

Interface is “used to be physical and the realm of product design, are now predominantly digitally based, requiring interaction design” (Preece, Yvonne, & Sharp, 2015). Video calling using virtual platforms like Facetime and Skype to connect with people around the world, “commonplace for a signi
ficant proportion of Internet users, via popular, user-friendly software such as Skype, Windows Live Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger, AOL Instant Messenger (AIM), and Google Chat”
(MacCormick, 2012)

Reflection on the Topic

1.      Interface is design that helps users connect and utilize the products. Video calling using the interface that help connect via computers and Internet for those who do not live close together with the main goal is for communications. Interfaces and video calling connected together and work with each other to create an online chat-call platform for people to communicate with their loved one despite the distances.
2.      “a user interface is that portion of an interactive computer system that communicates with the user. Design of the user interface includes any aspect of the system that is visible to the user” (2004, p. 1821)” (Shaked & Winter, 2016)

My Thought

“Social media has led to new ways of communicating and keeping in touch remotely.” (Preece et al., 2015, p.99)
“the innovation of social networking, with online virtual platforms like Facetime and Skype, or Messenger, is a huge change” (Hoang, 2018)
