Social Phenomena

Social Phenomena

Social phenomena in technology world means “how the emergence of a diversity of communication technologies has changed the way people live – the way they keep in touch, make friends, and coordinate their social and work networks”, “conversation mechanisms that have conventionally been used in face-to-face interactions and examine how these have changed for the various kinds of computer-based conversations”, “idea of telepresence, where novel technologies have been designed to allow a person to feel as if they are present or to give the appearance of being present at another location” (Preece, Yvonne, & Sharp, 2015, p.90)

Reflection on the Topic:

1.      Social phenomena are the interaction between human-human and human-technologies. It is the way how we connect to each other, express ourselves to the world and get connected. Using technologies as tools, we now can connect across the borderline to the whole world and make friends, sharing files and pictures, or call each other using Wi-Fi.
2.      “sharing on expectations, perceptions and intentions” (Rouse, 2015)
3.      This is how social interactions look like in virtual world:

My Thought

“Construct social identities, to build and maintain social relationships, and even to define the boundaries of communities” (Nguyen, Do˘gruöz, Rosé, & de Jong, 2016)
